The Amish are incredible graphic designers. Their quilts draw me in with their large-scale geometry and bold, dark colors and then amaze me with their not-this-century creation dates.
This quilt combines the Amish bars quilt pattern with the SMPTE color bars television test pattern (and some added distortion, because that's how it always looks in my head).
Amish Color Bars was designed and made between January and March of 2022 at my home in Austin, TX.
