I had been wanting to try something illustrative for a while, and our expecting friend’s excitement about animals and botanicals for her new baby boy felt like the perfect opportunity.

We both liked the idea of a baby quilt having varied textures, so I worked with a few materials that were new to me: high-loft polyester batting, fur-like “minky” fabric, and wool yarn. The baby has lots to feel.
