Sun/flower, 2022

Red and purple quilt of a radiating flower medallion laying in green leaves

46" | Made from cotton fabric, batting, and thread | Machine-pieced and quilted.

Pink backside of a quilt with a red circle laying on green leaves

Sun/flower’s concept was originally a consideration for Zach’s quilt before I began associating its character with the niece I had recently learned would be arriving into the world. The design is the vitality of the radiating sun with the joy of a blooming flower (you could even say, just a sunflower). They’re experiences I wish for my niece but also gifts that she has given us just by simply existing.
